Simulations
Simulations help us understand how mechanical components and assemblies behave over time, both on their own and in interaction with external conditions. At Kvenna, our simulation work includes traditional mechanical modelling as well as hydrodynamics and system-level behaviour.
We use Ansys Aqwa to simulate irregular wave loading on floating, submerged and fixed structures. When needed, Aqwa is combined with Ansys RB Dynamics in co-simulations, allowing us to include both hydrodynamic forces and mechanical motion in the same analysis. This provides a broader understanding of how a system may respond in practice.
When the standard user interface does not support a specific scenario, we use scripting or Python programming to apply variable loading or adjust model behaviour during run-time. This makes it possible to study special cases and find solutions where the built-in tools have limitations.
Simulations at Kvenna are rarely performed in isolation — they are closely connected to analyses and design, and contribute to more informed engineering decisions.
