More about our Torque Tool

At Kvenna, we designed the Torque Tool to master one of the toughest challenges in subsea operations: reliably actuating large ball valves in deepwater environments. Our hydraulic–mechanical systems are engineered for durability, precision and ease of service, enabling efficient operation in some of the world’s most demanding offshore settings.

The product family features two primary models: the K-TT400™ and K-TT800™. These units can handle ball valves with diameters between 20″ and 34″, with maximum torque capacities reaching up to 1000 kNm. Given the scale of these operations, our design emphasizes modularity: the tools accept interchangeable adapter plates that fit Kvenna’s own top-work interface flange and stem adapter system, ensuring compatibility across our product range.

Quality and operational efficiency sit at the heart of the Torque Tool’s design. The rugged housings and hydraulic cylinders are engineered to meet a 25-year design life at submerged depths of 1 500 metres. The K-TT400 model supports torque from 20–400 kNm with an outer diameter of 1 000 mm and height of 2 449 mm; the K-TT800 pushes this to 20–800 kNm with an outer diameter of 1 260 mm and height of 2 467 mm, while both weigh approximately 1 400–2 200 kg in air and about 25 kg in subsea neutral buoyancy configurations.

With capabilities such as ROV compatibility, fast change-out of adapter plates, short operation times and interchangeable components, the Torque Tool system helps operators reduce downtime and maintain valve integrity even in high-cycle applications. It is supplied as part of a complete package including calibration unit, control system, deployment basket and transport skid, so customers receive a full solution — not just a component.
